Improve Your Brushing and Flossing with These Tips in Tampa

Jul 17, 2020

At New Tampa Smiles we know that patients know the importance of brushing and flossing. However, the question is whether or not they’re doing it right. Dental health is very important. Finding a dentist near you that can give you advice and recommendations on healthy dental habits is essential.

Preventing dental decay and damage is highly regarded by all dental entities. Why wait until after the damage is done to repair it? Keeping your teeth healthy is easier, better, and cheaper. We have plenty of ways of replacing and fixing teeth, but it’s always better for the patient to have their healthy and natural teeth in good shape.

Tips for Brushing Your Teeth

Brushing your teeth is probably one of the easiest dental habits to have. At New Tampa Smiles, we want to make sure that our patients are doing it right and getting the most benefit out of it. Most people are aware that they need to brush their teeth twice a day but not that they need to do it for two minutes each time.

Patients should brush their teeth in the morning and at night before going to bed. Fluoride toothpaste is recommended. Fluoride strengthens teeth and helps stop decay. You should brush your teeth in a circular motion. If you’re having trouble with it, you can use an electric toothbrush. Your toothbrush should be swapped out every three to four months or if you were sick.

Tips for Flossing

While most people have no trouble regularly brushing their teeth, this isn’t always true for flossing. You need to floss once or twice per day. We understand that flossing can be difficult in the beginning, but you’ll get used to it. Flossing is important because tiny particles of food can get stuck between your teeth, even if you can’t see them. It also helps get rid of plaque and build-up.

Brushing and flossing regularly and correctly can take time and effort at first. Within a few days, however, you’ll become much more comfortable with them and will to do without too much effort.
